Mission Statement

I believe climate change to be the number one threat to civilisation; hence all our efforts should be directed towards facing this challenge now. I further believe that the single most determinant answer to this lies in the immediate and extensive deployment of all Renewable sources, until we establish a 100% Renewables energy mix and a zero carbon economy. I was lucky that from my Ph.D. years to the present day to have worked with Renewable Energy Sources, well over 35 years now. Through my professional involvement at the Direction for Renewable Energy Sources of the Public Power Corporation(PPC) of Greece from 1984 to 2014, later to become Public Power Corporation Renewables(PPCR), a 100% subsidiary of PPC, to which I had the honour of being a C.E.O. from 2010-2013, but equally in my capacity as Member of Board of Directors, of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association from 1991 to 2003 and then its Chairman and C.E.O from 2003 up to now, I have tried actively to promote the development of Renewable Energy Sources as the unique and only answer to the unfolding fourfold crisis of fossil fuel depletion, environmental destruction and financial crisis, and of course climate change. I have been involved in the conception, study and implementation of numerous renewable projects in Greece, but I have also worked briefly abroad and I have also participated in EU project evaluation for Africa.
From 2010 to 2013 as Chief Executive Officer of PPCR I had the opportunity to be involved in the design of major Renewables projects and take initiatives to build cooperation platforms with countries such as China, Romania, USA etc. Most of my life I have been publicizing my thoughts, via newspaper articles and TV appearances, on the above stated issues and since 1999 as the editor of the specialized magazine ANEMOLOGIA, which currently is delivered free of charge to 5.000 dedicated readers. I was also the editor of another specialized magazine, “Energy Point”, from 2007 to 2010. My objective in editing both magazines was in essence a dissemination campaign to a specific audience made up of decision makers in all levels of administration as well as the public and large, on both Renewables and Climate change, focusing on providing scientific evidence for the arguments. I have been invited and attended many conference and workshop panels, as well as Educational Institutes where I present the case for Renewables, based above all on the need to tackle climate change. Most of my work can be traced in www.eletaen.gr, www.anemologia.gr, https://www.facebook.com/groups/eletaen/, https://www.linkedin.com/grp/home?gid=1867956. I passionately believe in the need for international cooperation in the effort to reach a zero carbon economy the soonest possible, through the immediate massive deployment of renewables, in conjunction with energy saving and improved energy efficiency, so as to meet the energy needs of the global population.
